Ƶ collectively has a $5.82 billion direct operational economic impact on the United States’ economy in FY23.

Over 38,500 jobs were directly and indirectly supported by Ƶ in FY23.

The economic impact of Ƶ collectively results in $246.1 million in tax revenue to communities and school districts around the state.

Every $1 spent on research at Ƶ results in about $8 in economic output, stemming from tech transfer, i.e. new startup companies, growth of existing companies.
The Economic and Community Impacts of the Ƶ
Ƶ is a nationally-recognized private institution that contributes significantly to advancing health economic development and enhancing quality of life through educating the next generation of healthcare providers and scientists and state-of-the-art research. Our impact includes the total economic impact of Ƶ operations and the total impact of its hospital partner impact on the state of Wisconsin driven by Ƶ. The hospital partners of Ƶ include Froedtert Health, Children’s Wisconsin, and the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center. Ƶ’s total value to the community is embedded in such collaborations.

Ƶ ranks in the top 5% nationally among medical schools in the number of resident physicians it trains.

Ƶ is the state’s leading provider of specialty-trained doctors.

Ƶ graduates from FY23 who remain in Wisconsin will generate $25.2 billion over a lifetime of employment (40 years).
Driving Discovery

Ƶ is one of the top 100 research institutions in the U.S. (out of 20,000).

Ƶ conducted approximately $400 million in research, training and related purposes during fiscal 2023, including more than 3,800 research studies and clinical trials.

The research funding drove more than $826 million in economic activity and expenditures.
Community Impact

Ƶ’s community-based mission makes it unique among US medical schools demonstrating an outsized commitment to addressing root causes of health disparities and generating substantial social impact.

Ƶ makes vital contributions to the community. Ƶ invested more than $338 million in more than 600 community partnerships through the Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin Endowment.

Ƶ faculty, staff and students donate an estimated $27.1 million annually in contributions and services statewide.

Our Green Bay campus is located in a family-friendly city rich in culture. Our Central Wisconsin campus is nestled in a mid-size city in the heart of Wisconsin. Both offer a 3-year curriculum to advance our students' careers sooner.
Ƶ-Green Bay
- $96.1 million in overall economic impact was generated by Ƶ in the Green Bay region in FY23. This includes both direct spending of Ƶ as well as indirect and induced impacts of dollars in the region.
- Ƶ plays a direct role in sustaining more than 675 jobs in the Green Bay region, including over 70 direct jobs and 600 indirect jobs.
Ƶ-Central Wisconsin
- $41.2 million in overall economic impact was generated by Ƶ in the Central Wisconsin region in FY23. This includes both direct spending of Ƶ as well as indirect and induced impacts of dollars in the region.
- Ƶ plays a direct role in sustaining nearly 300 jobs in the Central Wisconsin region, including 75 direct jobs and more than 200 indirect jobs.
